FRESH BLOOD

Training stage

Texts of the performance are constructed from press releases.

Alvis Hermanis about the performance: “Progress, innovation, development – religion of the 21st century that has already become an unarguable dogma. Modern technologies have become the new, universal object of worship and the new Gospel that has replaced the dusty Bible and other religions. Politics, media, social networks keep chanting a single mantra: everything new is good and everything old is bad. An era of digital revolution is revolving into an “era of reputation”. Manipulation with information. In other words – hereafter your value will only be defined by what others think of you. The theme of the performance will be the Silicon Valley – generally known high-tech Mecca in the area of San Francisco where all the most advanced high-tech companies have settled – Google, Facebook, Apple, Amazon, Netflix, Oracle, Yahoo, Uber, Airbnb, Tesla, SpaceX and others. It’s a place where all the “most progressive” start-ups assemble. Among them a company Theranos and its head Elizabeth Holmes, the so-called reincarnation of Steve Jobs. This performance is about her.”
